Best Golf Training Aids for the Offseason

Best Golf Training Aids for the Offseason

The fairways are covered in leaves, golf Sundays are now "NFL Sundays" and you're probably thinking about "that putt" or "when I skulled it" and how it prevented you from breaking XX.  Like the Chicago Cubs, there is always next year.  Yes, there is always next year in golf.

Breaking 70/80/90/100 starts today.

Here is a list of golf training aids that will keep you sharp during the cold winter months, so that when temperatures creep into the 50s, the ground thaws, and you swap the skis for the sticks, you won't need the usual 3 months of "getting back into the game" that prevents the best of us from reaching our goals.

Gyro Swing

Why you need it: How many times do you talk about not having the right timing and feel?  Or release? Or trying to stay on plane?  With a gyroscope in the clubhead, the Gyro Swing is the only training club that allows you to actually feel the proper swing all year long.

Where to use it: If you have a fairly large room with a high ceiling, you can use the Gyro Swing any time you are not shoveling snow.

If the Gyro Swing were a Winter Olympic sport it would be: Figure skating-the golf swing is a delicate dance that requires impeccable grace, fluidity and timing.

Price: $119.99

Smash Bag

Why you need it: Come springtime, most golfers are "handsy" from hibernating all winter.  This leads to open or closed clubfaces, and lots of lost balls.  Put simply, the problem is that the clubface is not square at impact. When you use the Smash Bag, you'll know right away if your clubface is open or closed, without needing the launch a ball through the china hutch in your dining room.

Where to use it: The Smash Bag can be used in the garage or outside patio.

If the Smash Bag were a Winter Olympic sport it would be: Hockey-what really matters is the moment of impact.  Nothing pretty about it.  Just needs to be solid.

Price $19.99

Tempo and Grip Training Club

Why you need it: The Tempo and Grip is weighted so you can build golf-specific muscles all year round.  Swing the Tempo and Grip 50 times a day, and you'll spend less time on the course complaining about your back, hamstrings and general fatigue of your hands, arms and shoulders.  The Tempo and Grip also will help you maintain a slowwwwww and easy tempo, and is designed to create width in your swing.

Where to use it: Don't quote us here, but you should be able to swing it in the living room without breaking too many porcelain elves.

If the Tempo and Grip were a Winter Olympic sport it would be: Bobsled-brute strength and conditioning matters on the golf course as well, but you aren't winning everything without perfecting the nuances of the sport.

Price: $24.99

I recently saw a golf practice swing screen that was used by hitting velcro balls on to it. Is this one of your products?
