PGA Players Kick Off the Waste Management Phoenix Open with Some SKLZ

The Waste Management Phoenix Open (formerly known as the FBR), opened its first round today amidst its normal energy and excitement in the Arizona desert. I spent time at the tournament site, the TPC of Scottsdale, earlier in the week during the quiet practice rounds that are the calm before the storm of the most raucous Thursday through Sunday on an otherwise sedate PGA Tour schedule.

Now, I'm not one who likes to go name dropping-but I got to spend time with some of the best players in the world, both talking with the ones who already use SKLZ training aids, and introducing the product line to those who are just learning about SKLZ.

There were the major winners, like defending U.S. Open champion Lucas Glover, whose swing coach Mike Taylor has been having him use the SKLZ Gyro Swing training club's gyroscopic force to refine his takeaway. Or Rich Beem, who uses the Practice Pod for his alignment. And defending PGA Championship winner Y.E. Yang, past Masters winner Trevor Immelman, and two-time U.S. Open winner Lee Janzen, all of whom got an introduction to the SKLZ line of training aids.

There are a ton of players on the Tour using SKLZ products thanks to our diligent Tour rep, Ralph Todd. And there are players who have been buying and using SKLZ products on their own, like Kevin Streelman, who showed me a novel drill he does with our Smash Bag in which he actually hits pitch shots while hitting the bag with his club shaft. Now THAT's the way to improve your impact and keep any flipping out of your swing.

There are even players who are interested in some of our non-golf products, like Woody Austin, who wants to set up our popular Pro Mini Hoop in his house for his kids.

I also talked with Aaron Baddeley for a while, since we're now distributing his SeeItGolf putting DVD.

It was enjoyable to spend time with the players and be part of the circus that is the WM Phoenix Open. I got to see a little of everything, including the biggest bottle of Aleve I have ever witnessed!

For big PGA Tour headaches...

Best of luck to all the players this week!
