Putting Boards: Perfect Plane Vs. Putting Arc

Putting Boards: Perfect Plane Vs. Putting Arc

There are a lot of golf putting aids out there.

More than a few people have asked us "What is the difference between the Perfect Plane and the Putting Arc?".

We want to clear the air on the differences between the two putting boards.

They're actually very similar in function. In both cases, the golfer putts on an arc. Despite the fact that our product has a straight panel, the golfer still opens and closes the putterface naturally as it moves back and through, as it moves off the ground.  This creates a natural arc and keeps the putterface very square through impact. (They can also force a straight back, straight through by manipulating the putterface, but we'd argue that this isn't very natural.) The Putting Arc actually exaggerates the motion of the arc, so there's not only a natural opening and closing of the putterface, but also a bit more extreme inside-to-square-to-inside path.  Many argue that this keeps the moment of squaring the putterface a bit harder to achieve.

In talking with our own PGA Tour Rep, he really prefers the Perfect Plane, and Tour pros are echoing this sentiment, because the SKLZ Perfect Plane is so lightweight and easy to carry while being extremely effective.

Hope this helps.

That is a great comment on the Perfect Plane. The Perfect Plane was designed to allow the putter to swing on it's natural plance which is dictated by the putter's lie angle. A putter should swing on a plane just like any other club in your bag and that plane is dictated by the lie angle of the club, this is why a driver swings on a flatter plane than a wedge or a putter. In my opinion the putting arc forces the club to swing on an unnatural arc forcing the club to artificially stay too low to the ground. Like any club you need to make sure that the putter is swung as desinged...and that is on plane and the correct plane is dictated by the lie angle.
